PROSTHODONTICS AND CROWN & BRIDGE

INTRODUCTION

The department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge was established in 2014 and started its postgraduate training in 2020. The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and training in the field of prosthodontics. Since its establishment in 2014, the department has been focused on equipping undergraduate students with the necessary skills to perform basic treatment procedures, while also involving them in the management of patients requiring comprehensive dental care.

Since 2020, the department has also been offering a postgraduate training program, which involves extensive clinical and laboratory training. Postgraduate students are exposed to a wide range of both conventional and complex prosthodontic cases, allowing them to develop proficiency in various specialties within prosthodontics, such as Fixed and removable partial dentures, Complete dentures, Maxillofacial prosthetics, Implant prosthodontics.

In addition to clinical training, postgraduate students are actively involved in research, participating in various clinical and laboratory studies under the supervision of experienced faculty members. This exposure helps them stay at the forefront of advancements in the field, contributing to both their academic and professional development.

VISION

The vision of the department of Prosthodontics is to emerge as a department of excellence by carving out “architects of the smile,” with a unique understanding of all the elements that go into a beautiful, functional and natural-looking smile.  Department of Prosthodontics strives to impart top education to undergraduates and postgraduates and prepare them for a career in teaching with academic supremacy, excelling in research and futuristic clinical care with ethical practice to ensure a good oral health care for community at large.

MISSION

  • The mission of our department is to cater excellence in teaching and innovative teaching methods and to provide clinical, laboratory and didactic training, closely supervised in fixed, removable, and implant prosthodontics.
  • The post graduate students obtain experience in surgical implant placement, maxillofacial prosthetics and temporomandibular dysfunction treatment.
  • The department follows a comprehensive curriculum that focusses on knowledge, skill and attitudinal competency building, research ethics, evidence based decision making and cross cutting issues.
  • Motivates faculty and students to be abreast of modern developments in Prosthodontics by organising student and faculty development programs and continuing Prosthodontic education programs.

Key features

To ensure that both students and professionals stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of prosthodontics, the department regularly organizes Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programs and workshops.

The department also conducts regular hands-on workshops aimed at upgrading practical skills and refining the techniques used in the day-to-day practice of prosthodontics.

Free denture camps are organized by the department to expose the students to a variety of patients and clinical material.

Visits to another institutes and laboratories to facilitate insight into trends and practices.
