Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry is specialized for children from birth to childhood up to the age of 12 years in normal children and /or till all deciduous teeth replaced by the permanent teeth in special.
The motto of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry is to prevent the onset of dental problems like dental caries, clinical signs of malocclusion before they establish as dental problems.
Pedodontics will directly promote & encourage oral health of the child by:
Health promotions & Health education
School health programs will be organized to promote oral health of school children
Fluoride application will be given to prevent future dental caries
Treating clinical signs of pit & fissures by pit & fissure sealants
Restoring initial dental caries by in pulpally involved mixed dentition, pulp therapy like Direct Pulp capping,Indirect Pulp Capping,Pulpotomy.Pulpectomy will be line of treatment to protect tooth structure.Post pulpal therapy in posteriors stainless steel crowns and in anterior poly carbonate crowns/ Strip
In anterior teeth fractures depending on the extension of fracture pulpal therapy followed with esthetic restorations.In grossly destructed teeth, extraction followed by space maintainers.Special child will be treated specifically depending on the dental.To treat developing malocclusion & Oral habits will be prevented by Preventive & Interceptive orthodontics measures.
